Detroit Running Wild

In my last article “OEM hotrods Rely on Supercharged Performance” I brought up the new 2010 Hennessey HPE550 Camaro, the Shelby GT500, and the Roush 427R Mustang. All three are American muscle cars, all three are tuned up by well known tuner house, and all three rely on supercharged performance.

It seems that now dodge is also looking to elbow into this game of tuner wars debuting its     SMS 570x, a 700HP monster based off of the dodge challenger platform and built by none other than Steve Saleen.

“The 570X utilizes a 6.0-liter engine, reportedly good for 700 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque – plenty of gumption to roast those wide and flat 20-inch meats.

The engine includes lots of forged bits (pistons, crankshaft, con-rods, etc.) lurking beneath new CNC-ported aluminum heads. In addition, the 570X receives a SMST six-speed manual transmission and a high-performance cooling package. “

How about a three way compare?
