I love limitless situations, the view of the open ocean, an endless twisty country road, and the limitless potential of

Supercharger tuning for your M3 CSL

good engineering practices. One of the cars that I feel in love with a few years back is the BMW M3 CSL. The M3 badge tells you that this is a special car for a special driver, with increased horsepower, reduced weight, and ultimate driving balance that BMW is known for.

The CSL stands for Coupe Sports Lightweight, and is a racing heritage version of the M3 that takes street performance a couple of steps closer to being track prepared. The CSL of late incorporated a carbon fiber composite roof for reduced weight and a lower center of gravity, the trunk lid and trunk floor were also made of lightweight composites. The car had a retuned suspension, increased horsepower from a freer flowing exhaust system and an ECU recalibration, and came standard with 19” rims wrapped in ultimate grip Michelin pilot sport cups. To take delivery of the car you had to sign a waiver stating that you understand the track prepared nature of the car and that you understood that with its maximum grip setup and semi-slick tires, that it may not be brutally or candidly driven in adverse weather conditions. This is truly a car that demands respect in every way.

ESS tuning – European Supercharger Systems – once again goes to show that proper engineering practices have limitless potential. ESS carries a kit specifically designed for the M3 CSL based on ASA’s TM1-20HD performance superchargers. The kit includes everything you need for a fully reliable supercharger upgrade including:

A properly sized front mount intercooler.

                6 Larger Bosch Fuel injectors

A recalibrated ECU both for fuel demands as well as for optimum VANOS cam timing

A revised positive crankcase breather system

The result is a powerful 530 horsepower at a measly 7 psi of boost on an already lightweight and engaging car.
